About Our Newsletters

Earth Current

This service is designed to keep you informed about research and news in the arena of science and the environment. Earth Current is published twice weekly, on Tuesday and Friday mornings; its availability is announced on the Inside NGS home page. Topics covered will include archaeology and paleontology, environment, exploration and adventure, medicine and health, natural disasters, weather, and climate; peoples and cultures, people and places in the news; plants and animals; science and technology, and space.

Most hypertext links in these digests link to full-text of news releases, wire stories, and news and magazine articles on the Web. You may search or browse previously published editions, but be aware that many links have a limited life of two weeks from publication date (or less), which will reduce the value and utility of older digests. Some sites require free-registration. Some require a userid and password.

Environmental Newsletter

In keeping with the Society's mission of inspiring people to care about the planet, National Geographic's Libraries has developed the Environmental Newsletter, which features coverage of environmental issues, legislation, green buildings, surveys, media focus, consumer trends and more. The Environmental Newsletter is published each Wednesday.

Most of the links in the newsletter go to full-text of news releases, wire stories, and news and magazine articles on the Web. An archive of previously-published editions is available, but be aware that many links have a limited life of two weeks from publication date (or less), which will reduce the value and utility of older digests. Some sites require free-registration.
